60 + 1

 

There are day I like what I see and there are days I wonder who that is looking back at me. Oh 60+1.

I still have the energy I had 10 years ago it’s just harder to find now. Oh 60+1

Oh those 501 that look so good and tight on my behind left me behind when I could no longer button them by laying on the bed. Oh 60+1

Friends I have had since school days, yes that was just yesterday….. “OH MY” Judy and I have been friends for 48 years .. Oh 60+1

AARP was what old people belong to I now carry that card.. Oh 60+1

High school, dating, fast cars, good looking boys, staying up late, dancing, surfing.. Now computer game to keep the mind sharp, date is what you mark on your calendar when you going to see your Dr, fast cars are now call hoveround, those good looking boys, will they are now older but with same things on their minds just it’s only on their minds. Staying up late is if you make it to 9pm and dancing is what you do when someone is in the bathroom and surfing is now done on the internet. Oh 60+1

Miniskirts, bell bottoms and 6 inch heels. Mini skirt is what you shake your head at when you see a young girl in one, bell bottoms now trip you and 6 inch heels set in the shoe rack with fond memories.  Oh 60+1

That smile and low cut top that got you out of a speeding ticket. I still have the smile but now by the time I unbutton my blouse low enough to show any cleavage he already has the ticket written. Oh 60+1

The 4 days I use to take off for my birthday to party, I still take 4 days off but it’s to cook dinner 1 day for my family and friends for my birthday the 3 days to rest up after. Oh 60+1

My mind still thinks at time it is only 30 again until I start to move and then my body reminds me of the dumb things I use to do when I was 30 and NO WAY is it letting me go there again. Oh 60+1

Would I go back to 50 or 30 or even 21, nope I love where I am in life and have great stories to tell when I was a party girl. And the ones I don’t tell I have faith my family and friends will. I have a good life and enjoyed it so much and God has been good to me over the years. So I have to Oh 60+1 feel dame good!!!

Since my 50's are gone I decided to do a new one for my 60+1 birthday. So for a reminder below is the what I wrote about being in my 50's about 10 years ago..

OHHHHHHHH the 50’s… “No no not the 1850’s or the 1950’s but my 50’s.. “

 

I was sure life would be easer at this stage of life.. Boy where did I read that???

 

Your not any wiser of the heart, and the pain of a love gone bad or a romance braking up is just as painful in the 50’s  “No no not the 1850’s or the 1950’s but my 50’s.” as it was in the 20’s.

 

Finance’s giggle giggle… How come when I was 18 every one in there 50’s “No no not the 1850’s or the 1950’s but my 50’s”, look rich and I was sure I would be too. So why are the 14 days between paydays longer than 14 days vacation???

 

Why is it your kids still don’t think you know any thing when you in the 50’s “No no not the 1850’s or the 1950’s but my 50’s” my folks wise up buy time I was in my 40’s.

 

“Men” this could be a book in it self, some look at your like they need to help you across the street and some just want to know if it true older women make better lovers.. Well in the 50’s “No no not the 1850’s or the 1950’s but my 50’s” Not only are we like a fine piece or Art and get more beautiful as the signs of age set in but like a fine wine that just a small taste can make you smile. 

 

I love the 50’s “No no not the 1850’s or the 1950’s but my 50’s”.. I love the way I look the way I feel, the looks of approval the smiles of flirtations, the silly idea I know all the answers cause I’m in my 50’s.. The wonderful friends I have had for years, the new friends I will make. God I love the 50’s..

On other day in Hot Ville, WOW it has been hot so far the hottest day has been 104. Several other days 100 to 102, and for the PNW that is hot. My little home doesn't have AC so when I get home the poor dog  and cat are just laying around and the house is so hot. I leave every thing closed up but there is just no air movement.  Sleeping at night is impossible, whats nice about the weekend I can get up early 5:30am and open all the windows and put fans in them and cool the house off some before I have to close it up but during the week I can’t do that so it never cools off. We had one hell of a lighting/thunder storm about 1am and they same we will have more today, Will rain also but still get to 90 that will be sticky. I lived for a while on the east coast (Dover Delaware)and remember how humid it would get in the evening and I think that is how this whole day is going to go.  (Someday I will do a blog of what it is like living and working at Dover Airforce Base during Vietnam, DAFB was where the remains of our men and women from the war came to that were from east of the Mississippi, Travis AFB in Calif was for west of the Mississippi.)

It’s been nice working at the new office and job since I got my transfer. Instead of an hour going in it’s about 20min and coming home instead of over an hour still about 20min. Except Friday and this last Friday was over an hour getting home every one was headed to the coast or Mt Hood to get out of the heat setting on I5 in bumper to bumper traffic not moving it got to 112. I had the top up on the car as I knew it was going to be a hot drive home and that is just to hot to have the top down. I cut off I5 about 12 miles from home and take the back road that pass the farms who are watering there crops and it dropped to 106 and the air felt so much cooler and I love the smell of the fields when getting watered. Where I live has a lot of sod farms, corn, grapes, tree/shrubs farms so it is a nice drive the last 12 miles.  Woodburn is known for it’s Tulips farms also. A very nice place to live.

The kids got home from there vacation and had a great time but were ready I think to be home. Their kitty’s are sure glad they are home. They have 3 cats and a friend came and feed them and gave the some attrition but nothing as good as your owners can give.

I am still waiting for her to post photos of the trip so I can see what all they did. School starts soon so summer here is almost over. It sure went fast this year.

Will I need to try to wake up and do something, a few hours of sleep is just not enough. J I gave up on beauty sleep years ago now I try to get “Get up and move the next day sleep” lolol

Ok for those who know me in real life not on just the internet.. I had to put the Save a horse ride a cowboy video on.. There not a lot of things I enjoy looking at as much as a cowboy in tight 501's, no shirt or a t-shirt tucked in, cowboy hat, a little sweat and that beautiful smile that melts the harden hearts. So lady's enjoy!! sorry guys next time..:) 

August, Wait did I just say August ?? Holly Crap yes “Crap”.  It seems I was just writing about my 60^th birthday BBQ my daughter gave me at her home in Aloha Oregon and it’s my day again.. Where did this last year go?????. In two weeks I will be 60 + 1   humm backwards 16, no thank you I can remember 16 and it was a lot easier being 16 back then than it is now...My biggest concern was how I was getting to the beach to surf (Long Beach, Huntington or Tin Can beach also known as Muscle beach or Venus beach) or to cruse the A&W Drive In.  This year I am having dinner at my home for family and a few friends.  A nice Italian dinner, now you say OH she must be Italian…nope Scott, Irish and Mule but no better cook than an Irish Grandmother who has the Scott wisdom and always right..:) lolol I am only kidding (although the kids might agree).

I am still doing stuff to the house and got my new living room set, I never knew how hard it would be to giv e away a very nice couch, coffee table and chair till I tried with my old one. Someone said to put a price on it set it in the front yard and it will be stolen within an hour or less. I was almost thinking that. J.  But a nice older couple walking by saw it in the garage with a free sign and came back with their truck and took it all, yahoo.. I can park in my garage again..yes yes I am one of those people who garage is clean, has room to park my car and walk around it..lololol… Had a neighbor tell me once that wasn’t American, no one in the US can park in the garage..

The kids have gone camping for 9 days and it been a week now and I am starting to miss them. I don’t see Dorie (see link to her blog above) and the pack every day but talk on the phone every couple days and I have missed that. I am sure they are having a great time in Yellowstone.  This is there 3ed camping trip this summer and the last one. My son in-law has 8 weeks off (one of the perks of working for Intel) so they have been to the Oregon coast twice and now Yellowstone. Getting the camper and boat was a good investment for them as they still do stuff as a family.

Jesse will be a Jr this year in high school but due to his grades he has been accepted into collage this year so he will be going to Rock Creek which is part of PCC. He wanted to take law but they don’t have it at this campus and he has to spend his first year there so next year he can go where he wants and then he can take his law classes.  Levis will be able to do this program next year and his grades should allow it. You can not do better than getting your first two years of collage paid for by the school district and when you graduate from high school   you have two years of collage behind you and paid for.

My friend hung a porch swing for me and I just love it, I can remember as a child you could always find me in the tire swing dad hung from a tree or at grandpas on his front porch swing... lol I guess I have never out grew the comfort that motion gives me.  Dragging my toes and wondering how mom could tell... gee if had looked at the toes of my shoes I would of known how she knew. Remember those days of just relaxing in a swing or laying in the grass making things out of the clouds or at night chasing the lighting bugs and putting them in a jar. Was life really that simple or were we just so young we didn’t see reality.  I was the youngest of 3 my whole time was spent finding way to get my older brother in trouble and his was teasing me or tricking me into stuff that always ended up with me tears and he also spent a lot of time trying to get out of trouble cause you can bet the baby blue eyes I had filled with tears and that bottom lip that stuck out went right straight to Dad. My sister who was in the middle just stay neutral and out of the way..lolol

 

I hope all of you are having a safe and wonderful summer.. I will try to get back to updating this every Sunday. I have made some good changes in my life so have more free time and not so stressed. I was driving 66 miles round trip to work each day and getting to work wasn’t so bad but  getting home was taking sometime 1 ¼  hours and sometime more due to I5 traffic. I got a transfer I have wanted and so I move to a different office and my drive has been cut by more than half. So time and gas wise I am way ahead.  Instead of driving to N Portland I drive to the far west side of Lake Oswego which is just off I5. I can’t believe I leave work an hour later and get home only 15 to 20 min later. And the parking is free!! Nice so very Nice.
